I have visited this dentist before and it was a good experience but I went in for a broken tooth repair because Dr. Landy had placed a partial crown on the tooth that broke and the visit left me still in shock. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 before their 4:00 close time which I’m sure contributed to the way everything was handled. The doctor briefly told me it wasn’t the crown but the side of the tooth that was broken and he said he’s “going to try to do something to fix it”. Without any numbing, any prior financial consent, or any procedural authorization, the dentist went in and started working on the tooth. Once he started working on the tooth with an urgency I have never experienced before, I put my hand up due to the discomfort, pain, and confusion I was experiencing and he did not stop nor slow down to ease my discomfort but rather just kept saying “it’s almost done”. At this point, I still didn’t know what “it” was nor why the dentist was rushing so much. During the procedure, the dentist was frustrated because I was over salivating and instead of slowing down and making sure there was sufficient suction and my face wasn’t getting covered in my saliva, he seemed to just speed up to try to get whatever work he needed in. Once the procedure was over, I stood up still confused at the urgency of the procedure and when the dental assistant asked if I was good , I clearly responded with “I’m not sure what just happened, that was a lot” and she clearly understood because she said she could see my discomfort and confusion during the procedure. When I went to the front desk, I was being charged around 300$ for a procedure I didn’t even get to accept nor deny and a cost that was never discussed with me. If I knew I was going to pay 300$ for a temporary fix that the dentist said he didn’t know how long it was gonna last, without being able to properly floss because the repair is now obstructing my ability to remove the floss upwards through the teeth (instead I was told I need floss and remove it sideways), I would have very clearly gone to a dentist who was going to take his time and numb me and explain what was happening and stop when I told him I was in pain.
